In one of our recent franflashes, we have highlighted the franchising opportunities that currently await foreign franchisors in the Ukraine with its rapidly expanding market. Areas that enjoy particular growth are:

the retail sector with a growth rate at 40%; and
Pizza Restaurants with a growth rate of 200% +

The Ukrainian market in franchising is well developed. Insiders consider it to be one of the most dynamic markets in the region. Accordingly, the Ukraine presents itself as a possible gateway to the CIS.

There are two upcoming events that foreign franchisors planning to enter the region should consider attending:

the Ukraine 2007 franchise exhibition on 14-16 November; and
the Ukraine Retail Forum 2007 from 28-30 November.

Both events will offer foreign franchisors a good opportunity to get a first impression of this new and dynamic market.
