Dear Members and Colleagues,

At the beginning of 2009 I wrote about the challenging times ahead as we face the economic downturn. Sadly, City Information Group (CIG) has been seriously affected and it is with much regret that we, the Trustees of CIG, must announce its sad demise. Diminishing membership and sponsorship opportunities along with some outstanding money owed to us including unpaid seminar, party and membership fees, mean that CIG is no longer financially viable.   

With immediate effect City Information Limited has ceased trading. 

We have diligently chased both the individuals and the organisations who promised to pay monies due at the time and the organisations that they worked for but feel we can go no further in trying to obtain the money owed.    

The Trustees are now in receipt of all CIG files and, following a meeting with an insolvency practitioner to discuss winding up City Information Ltd, are now finalising outstanding issues.  

CIG is currently not in a position to pay all its outstanding creditors. Several people we have spoken to informally have offered small donations to assist. They have been very generous in recognising that over the period of time it has been in existence, CIG has given them networks, trained them, informed them and in all sorts of ways helped them progress along the career path.  Even some of our suppliers in the vendor market have offered us funds as they appreciate the access they have had to their target markets over the years.   If, as a past and or present member of CIG, you would like  to offer some assistance please do contact us. 

City Information Group has been going in many guises for 20 years and has evolved and been very successful in providing a community for learning and networking. That CIG has been so successful over the past two decades is an achievement to all of those who have been members, committee members, sponsors and trustees. 

There are other groups out there who will continue to provide support, networking and learning opportunities to our industry. The trustees and committee members look forward to seeing you at their events in the future.
